Don’t expect the ladies competing in the Fitness O to play nicey nice this year. With 2008 champ Jen Hendershott opting out of the big show to pursue outside interests, the claws are bound to come out to secure a place at the top in Las Vegas.

WHAT: Fitness Olympia
WHERE: Las Vegas, Nevada
WHEN: Friday, September 25
PREJUDGING: 11 a.m. PST, Las Vegas Convention Center, South Hall
FINALS: 7:00 p.m. PST, Orleans Arena

Despite sitting out last year with an injury, Adela Garcia, who won in 2004,’06 and ’07, has established herself as the frontrunner following a win at the 2009 IFBB Europa Super Show Dallas. We know that doesn’t sit well with Garcia’s rival Tracey Greenwood, a runner-up at the Fitness O in ’08. But don’t count out Tanji Johnson yet, who has placed in the top five the past three years, or this year’s second-place finisher at the Ms Fitness International, Julie Palmer.

As you can see, the talent pool is dense, so we’re calling it a tossup, but that doesn’t mean Garcia, Greenwood or Johnson are going to agree with us. Read what they had to say below.

Adela Garcia
Age 37
Height 5'1"
Weight 110 pounds
Country of Birth Dominican Republic
Current Residence Pflugerville, Texas
Olympia History 2000, 5th; 2001, 4th; 2002, 4th; 2004, 1st; 2005, 3rd; 2006, 1st; 2007, 1st

FLEX: Who will be in the first callout?

GARCIA: Adela, Tracey, Julie, Tanji, Shannon.

FLEX: Aside from you, who will have the best routine?

GARCIA: Myriam Capes.

FLEX: Which is the most likely competitor to break into the Top 5?

Mindi O’Brien
Trish Warren
Tina Durkin

GARCIA: Nothing against your pick, but I believe Shannon [Meteraud], Myriam, and Mindi have a great chance of breaking into the top five spot. Why? They all have good routines and I know Myriam and Mindi have been working on their physiques to improve their placings.

FLEX: Since there is no press conference, if you could issue a warning to one competitor, who would it be and what do you say?

GARCIA: Tracey Greenwood!! Be ready because my vampire is going to suck all the blood out of your Betty Blah Boo doll if you bring her.
