IFBB Pro and active duty Air Force airman Luis Santa will be competing in the 2013 IFBB Wings of Strength Chicago Pro in the 212 and Under Class. I got to know Santa long before he turned Pro, and always relished the cheering section of his family and fans who vocally supported him at various national level shows. He has to be one of the hardest working athletes in the sport. Balancing active duty service with competitive bodybuilding is an achievement in and of itself, not to mention the fact that his wife is an IFBB Pro Figure athlete!
Santa was recently deployed overseas to Muscat, Oman. He worked at the American Embassy with the US Marines. (Being a former Marine Recon Platoon Commander, It's very hard to refrain from making an Air Force joke right now .)
In a recent conversation, Santa told me:
"I returned from an overseas deployment Dec 22, 2013. I was in the Middle East. Since my return, I've been training full force. Fortunately while on deployment, I stayed within a good nutrition regimen maintaining a much lower body fat percentage than past off-seasons. I'm now 7 weeks out feeling like this is my best prep ever so far. I workout out of AllFit Gym in Montgomery, AL and my wife is also stepping on the Pro stage for the same show with me in the figure division."
Look for IFBB Pros Luis Santa and Yolanda Alvarado to both compete in the 2013 Chicago Pro in their respective divisions. This 212 and Under Class promises to be a fierce one stacked with competitors.
Flex Magazine wishes each of them the best of luck.
