After a whisper-close call at the 2006 USA Championships in July, where he lost a tough battle with Omar Deckard for the superheavyweight title, Leo Ingram fulfilled his long-held goal and joined the IFBB pro ranks.
With his overall victory September 16 at the North American Championships in Ohio, the Naval officer currently stationed in Hawaii earned his pro card, and was elated with his accomplishment. "Thank you very much," the 37-year-old emailed to our Senior Writer, Greg Merritt, in response to congratulations from the FLEX staff. "I am sitting here with a big smile on my face as I write this. This has got to be one of the happiest days of my life. A lifelong dream finally accomplished."
At 5'9", 250 pounds, Ingram definitely has the goods to compete in the sport's highest level. Next up for him is a decision on whether to retire from the military or re-enlist, and a determination of exactly when he wants to make his pro debut. Of course, we'll keep you posted.Check out the latest in Science Behind the Supps
