In New York, where a retooled Kai Greene first made noise a year ago, the New York native is looking unbeatable.
While not quite as sharp as he was at the Arnold Classic two months ago, Kai has more than enough muscle, shape, cuts and presence to win this, the 2008 IFBB New York Pro at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center. Sporting his trademark zippered quads and impossibly low lats, Kai seems a lock to take the title, also evidenced by the fact that the judges sent him and him alone back to the ranks after a brief single callout.
Included in the group vying for the runner-up spot are New Jersey's Craig Richardson - who's looking terrific - an improved Ronny Rockel, Dave Henry, Kevin English and Ben White, all of whom made the first callout.
Seemingly overlooked were Martin Kjellstrom, who was at an all-time best, Leo Ingram who, despite a strange lump under his right lat was also on point and Evgeny Mishin.
In the Under-202 class it looks to be a battle between Dave Henry and Kevin English for first. Henry still hasn't managed to recapture his stellar form of a few years ago but is conditioned enough to keep it tight in the race for first. Kevin English, whose pro career has been marked by fits and starts, showed superior conditioning to Henry and a freaky taper but had trouble controlling his midsection.
Tonight's finals begin at 7pm. Be sure to check back right here on flexonline.com for final results and a wrap-up report on our homepage.
