Branden Ray

Athlete Bio

Branden Ray has had a quick rise up the bodybuilding ranks. He won his first NPC show, the 2006 Tournament of Champions, as a MW. After some close calls he finally turned Pro as a LHW at the 2010 nationals, beating out Robert Burneika. Branden wisely has stayed in the 202 (now 212) class, where he has put on quality muscle and improved conditioning with each show. No slouch outside the gym, Branden used to work at CNN as an Assignment Editor in their DC offices.

Q:

How did you get the dense look in your recent Facebook photos?
Working hard on a day to day basis. Being in the same gym that so many other luminaries trained at helps also.

Q:

What is it like training at Gold’s Gym Venice?
Indescribable. You have to be there to feel that energy that is in there.

Q:

How do you rotate your fats and carbs inside your diet?
Yes, but that largely depends on how I’m looking and what changes my coach Noel Fuller wants to make.

Q:

Is a prep coach necessary for competing in bodybuilding?
I think so. At a certain level, everyone is so good, you need that extra set of eyes to keep you focused on the task at hand, winning!
