Lionel Beyeke
Athlete Bio
Though he looks like the long lost twin of Kai Greene and possesses the accent of a French native, most don't realize that Lionel is from Cameroon but moved to France at 19. In '09, he raised eyebrows at the Arnold Amateur, where he was the runner up behind Roelly Winklaar. In less than a year of turning Pro in 2010, he put on 30lbs of muscle for the 2011 NY Pro, in which he placed 4th. Lionel claimed he would “shock everyone at the Flex Pro 2012” and he did, edging out Ben Pakulski to win it!
Q:
Are you thinking about moving your family to the United States?
Unsure right now. Its hard to uproot your family from one country to another. While it is enticing, there has to be more thought put into it.
Q:
To what do you attribute this year’s drastic improvements?
Working with Hany Rambod was a very big reason! He incorporated some things I had never done before in my training and they worked like a charm.
Q:
Are there foods you eat in France that you can’t get in the states?
Pretty much everything that is available here in France is available here in the states under one name or another, so it's not a huge difference.
Q:
Who were some of your inspirations in the sport?
Flex Wheeler, Shawn Ray, Kevin Levrone. Lot of the old school bodybuilders. One in particular was Thierry Pastel, a fellow Frenchman.
